Frogs in Chorus - Banjo Paterson

The chorus of frogs in the big lagoon The green frog sat in a swampy spot
Would sing their songs to the silvery moon. And he sang the song of knew knew not what.
Tenor singers were out of place, "The world is rotten, oh cursed plight,
For every frog was a double bass. That I am the frog that must set it right.
But never a human chorus yet How shall I scatter the shades that lurk?"
Could beat the accurate time they set. And the old man bullfrog sang, "Get work,
The solo singer began the joke; Work, get work,"
He sang, "As long as I live I'll croak,
Croak, I'll croak," The soaring spirits that fain would fly
And the chorus followed him: On wings of hope to the starry sky
"Croak, croak, croak!" Must face the jealous dogs,
For the world is ruled by its chorus of frogs.
The poet frog, in his plaintive tone, The soaring spirits that fain would fly
Sang of a sorrow was all his own;
"How shall I win to my heart's desire?
How shall I feel my spirit's fire?" And the solo frog in his deepest croak,
"To fire your spirit," he sang, "eat coke,
Coke, eat coke,"
And the chorus followed him:
"Coke, coke, coke!"
Would sing their songs to the silvery moon. And he sang the song of knew knew not what.
Tenor singers were out of place, "The world is rotten, oh cursed plight,

This poem doesn't really have a message, but its showing what frogs do; they sing in perfect tune!
Why did I choose this poem?
![Picture](/uploads/2/4/8/7/24871045/3183830.jpg)
I chose this poem because it was about animals, (frogs) and I needed a poem about animals, because they are part of nature too, as well as plants and other types of nature.
What type of poem is it?

This poem is a narrative poem because it is very long and in the form of a short story, but the verses rhyme.

The sight of the hills is a beauty
The bright moon is the sign of purity
The flow of the river is a murmuring music
The act of the sun is so philanthropic.
The rain of the clouds is very refreshing
The blowing of the wind is so soothing
The roaring of the ocean has its own reason
How charming is the changing of the season!
The bright moon is the sign of purity
The flow of the river is a murmuring music
The act of the sun is so philanthropic.
The rain of the clouds is very refreshing
The blowing of the wind is so soothing
The roaring of the ocean has its own reason

The author wants to tell us how beautiful nature is, and all the wonderful details of it. Like when it says ‘The rain of the clouds is so refreshing’ it is telling us the the rain is nice and refreshing, and when it says ‘The flow of the river is a murmuring music’ it is telling us how lovely the river sounds. So we should realise how beautiful and peaceful nature is.

It is a free verse poem, because it has more than 5 lines like the limerick and the cinquain, and the haiku poetry, and it is not a story like the narrative poem. And it doesn’t follow any of the rules that the others follow, because free verse poems don’t have set rules.
